Home sales jumped last month in Orange and Ulster counties, as lower prices and lucrative tax benefits continued to lure buyers.
Orange County sales of detached, single-family homes jumped 57 percent this December compared to a year before, according to the Orange County Association of Realtors. Sales spiked 34 percent in Ulster County, but fell 3 percent in Sullivan, according to county boards of Realtors.
The median sale price in each of the counties was lower than year-ago levels, reflecting the ongoing correction in the real-estate market.
