Mortgage interest rates continue to drop week after week. After nine consecutive weeks of drops the interest rates on U.S. 30-year fixed-rate mortgages reaching their lowest level in 37 years, according to home funding company Freddie Mac. Rates on the 30-year fixed-rate mortgage dropped to an average of 5.10 percent for the week ending December 31^st, down from the previous week's 5.14 percent, Freddie Mac said.

As the overall interest rate is lower as a whole, they continue to be volatile day by day, even hour by hour. It is best to consult with one or two reputable loan companies at one time. If you call around from company to company it very possible rates many have changed by the time you made all of your calls.

The national median price point for house sold the first 11 months of 2008 compared to the same time period in 2007 is down over 9%.
