We have all seen the writing on the walls lately. Local county and city governments are hurting for money. Many based budgets on the boom times and did not plan for this economic downturn. A big staple of government revenue has been  property taxes on residential homes. With many Atlanta real estate foreclosures values have fallen and banks and homeowners not paying the tax bill and fighting assesments.

Quitley local city and county government has been looking at commercial real estate and assesments to boost their bottom lines. Owners of Atlanta Commercial Real estate need to be very pro-active in fighting any higher new assesments and in fact need to assess getting your existing property taxes reduced.

A WORD OF CAUTION !   Real estate taxes are not always found to be over assesed. In analyzing county and city tax digest some properties are found to be undertaxed, just right,or overtaxed. The last thing you want to do if you have low taxes already than what it should be is to shine a light on your property.

How do you know what to do in the Atlanta commercial real estate market ?    A source you can go to is the

( American  Property Tax Counsel ) www.aptcnet.com . From there you can speak to a tax attorney who can look at your property and recommend a strategy to take action or not .
