I hate to sound like a politician, but many times, when home buyers ask me questions, they want definites, and oftentimes, there are no absolute answers when it comes to real estate.
For instance, buyers want to know if this school is better than that one, they want to know how the market is, they ask what should they offer on this house...none of which have definite right/wrong, yes/no, or objective answers.
In response to whether one school is better than the other: they're asking me to make a qualitative statement supposedly empowered by my fathomless well of neighborhood knowledge, personal bias and experience, and fortified with statistics and analysis. But really, what it would boil down to, is I'd be giving my opinion. And opinions are like noses--we all got 'em and they all smell.
Much better for me to suggest they go visit the schools(s), tour the facilities, speak with teachers, staff, students, and even interview the principal. And they should take their child, too, and together, try on the school for size. How does it feel? Does their child respond positively? Do they as parents feel the staff, teachers, and administrators are caring and capable?
I sound like I've pawned a loaded question off, but really, I believe my job is to provide informational outlets and offer direction rather than give a possibly mis-placed and erroneous opinion.
