The Atlanta home market continues to BOOM in this economic downturn, especially close to the Atlanta Airport. According to data from June 11, 2009 to June 11, 2010 provided by First Multiple Listing Service (FMLS) 6162 homes sold in Atlanta alone. That is roughly 513.5 homes per month! This is the best time to buy real estate since the late 1980's during the Savings and Loan scandal.
I'll bet you are thinking to yourself, these numbers are due to the First time home buyer's tax credit. Let's look at that. The first time home buyer's tax credit extention stated:
The credit applies to the purchase of a principal residence before July 1, 2010 by any taxpayer who enters into a written binding contract before May 1, 2010, to close on the purchase of a principal residence before July 1, 2010.
This tells us buyers MUST have had their desired home "under contract" by May 1, 2010. According to data from May 2, 2010 to June 11, 2010 provided by FMLS, since May 2, 2010 a total of 374 properties have been put "under contract." That is 374 homes in 41 days! That is quite a bit lower than the 513.5 per month posted above. We want to continue to see the Atlanta home market stay strong. This is why we are offering the GREEN BACK BUYER REBATE!
