When you are in the process of buying a new property, whether it is your first purchase or your 100th, a home inspection is a crucial part of that process.  Not only can a home inspector tell you about faults with the property and help you decide if any repairs need to be negotiated, but you wil learn a lot about the property you are buying.

I always try to be present at the home inspection when I am representing home buyers, and I strongly encourage my clients to follow the home inspector and ask questions and take notes.  It s amazing how much you can learn about the systems in your house just by paying attention.  From how to change furnace filters to learnong where the water shutoff is, the home inspection can be a huge source of knowledge if you take advantage of it.

The next time you find yourself buying a home, please don't be shy and learn all you can.  After all, it is going to be your house...
