Charleston SC Real Estate Tips: New PCS Program Makes Move Easier For Military PCSing To Charleston SC
A new PCS program is in place for miltary personnel, making the process of moving easier, and improving service members experience. This is good news for military personnel PCSing to the Charleston Air Force Base, Naval Weapons Station or Coast Guard Base.
The new Defense Personal Property Program allows military personnel to manage, hands on, their personal property move by allowing access via the internet with the mover. Personnel can access their mover through any computer with internet access around the clock seven days a week. Once PCS orders are in hand, personnel can go through the internet to enter relevant information regarding their move--including estimating weight of items, request pick up and delivery dates, and let their mover know about specific items that require special attention. Once the move is complete, they can also file damaged or missing items as well.
This internet access saves a lot of time and effort, as previously such items required service members a trip to a transportation office.
Another unique feature designed to improve service members moving experience is giving members a direct voice in determining the quality of movers they receive. After the move, service members receive a short, 12 question survey to assess their moving experience. The evaluation scores are used to rank moving companies, awarding top performing companies with more shipments.
It is important for service members to learn more about this program, as over 200,000 PCS orders will be forthcoming in this approaching season. If you will be PCSing to Charleston SC, whether to the Charleston Air Force Base (AFB), Charleston Naval Weapons Station (NWS), or Charleston Coast Guard, and will be looking for Charleston SC real estate, there is a website set up to assist military service personnel in buying Charleston homes.
